DESCRIPTION
This is a vintage Aizome indigo-dyed cotton Japanese Kendo jacket. Used for the martial art called Kendo, the Kendogi jackets are worn underneath the armor (Kendōgu or Bōgu) during wooden sword practice.
Made of thick embroidered/woven cotton Sashiko fabric, Kendogi are originally in deep indigo color, extremely resistant and like denim jeans have their colors fading with time, revealing amazing shades of blue. The Kendogi jackets we upcycle are sourced directly in Japan and are between 20yrs and 40yrs old but still incredibly solid.
We added Full grain Italian leather pockets inspired by the mid 40's N-1 Deck Navy Jacket, double-stitched all around with full brass rivets reinforcement. All jackets are carefully curated, cleaned before upcycling, they are all unique and finished one at a time in our workshop. For pre-order and sizing contact us directly by email, 3/4 weeks lead-time.
